[Pluto-help] soundblaster + desktop theater 5.1 dtt 2200

Ho una scheda sonora soundblaster e un desktop theater 5.1 dtt 2200, 
quest'ultimo si connette a un hub usb.
Il problema di fondo (?) e' che non si sente nulla... :(
Ho scaricato anche le emu-tools...ma quando provo ad avviare emu-config il 
risultato e' : /dev/mixer: No such device
Facendo  ls -l /dev/mixer ho:
 crw-rw-rw-    1 root     sys       14,   0 Jul 18  1994 /dev/mixer
Facendo  ls -l /dev/sndstat ho:
crw-r--r--    1 root     root      14,   6 Jul 18  1994 /dev/sndstat
La distro che uso e' slackware 8.1 e il kernel e' 2.4.18

Immagino che sara' una schifezza il mio kernel....pero' abbiate pieta'....sono 
una donna (hghghghghgh) che usa linux da pochi mesi....
