[PLUTO-help] Problema con window manager

Ciao,
uso Debian aggiornata a Sid.
Ho installato con apt gnome (2.4) e window maker.
Oggi volevo cambiare window manager, da gnome a window maker.
Così ho dato
#update-alternatives --config x-window-manager
ottenevo una scelta dove ho selezionato 1 per wmaker... dopo però non è  
cambiato window manager all'avvio di X!
Ho eseguito nuovamente
#update-alternatives --config x-window-manager
e ottengo questo:
There are 2 alternatives which provide `x-window-manager'.

  Selection    Alternative
-----------------------------------------------
*     1        /usr/bin/wmaker
 +    2        /usr/bin/metacity

Press enter to keep the default[*], or type selection number:

sembra che il default sia wmaker però non se avvio X dall'utente (non  
root) che uso di solito ho ancora gnome.

Una volta ricordo di avere modificato un file /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc  
aggiungendo exec /usr/bin/wmaker

Però sono confuso e curioso di sentire un vostro parere.
