[PLUTO-help] Kernel 2.6.6 + chiavetta USB

Ciao a tutti
Ho una chiavetta usb che con il kernel 2.4.x ha sempre funzionato 
egregiamente, ora pero' con il kernel 2.6.6 facendo la stessa procedura non 
riesco a montarla.
Il fatto e' che credo che questo portatile con il kernel 2.6.X abbia qualche 
problema USB.
All'inizio da dmesg quando inserivo la chiavetta non succedeva nulla, poi ho 
letto in un sito relativo al compaq nx9005 di disabilitare nel bios "legacy 
usb".

Il fatto e' che ora non riesco a montarla, ho provato a 
montare /dev/sda /dev/sdaX e /dev/sdX ma non succede nulla, dice sempre che:
"mount: /dev/sda1 is not a valid block device"
Avete qualche consiglio su come capire quale device associagli??
