Hi,
I installed a new mandrake release (9.2) on my PC, but i've a big problem
with memory management
After booting with enterprise kernel, and if i run the top command i get
a memory usage of 1,2 GB out of 2GB !!!!!!
If i run a big simulation (allock 1GB of ram) the system swaps
When i read the .config the processors are i686 but i've a smp Athlon 1600+
I tried to recompile a new kernel 2.4.23 with the correct processor family &
HiMem support set but i've a big problem with management of the mem,
infact:
After booting with new kernel the memory usege is 100MB.
For testing my compiled kernel i run 2 simulations which allocate 1GB mem
each, but after 5 min i can't run the other program because i've the
segmentation fault and the system is unmenageable and i must reboot it.
I don't have this problem if i compile the kernel whith a single uP.
My HW is:
Floppy
Ide cdrom
Ide maxtor hd
Riva tnt2 model64 videocard
CM738 soundcard
AMD-762 bridge
AMD-768 bridge
3com905c-tx eth.card
