Ho una scheda con lo stesso chip della tua (AC97), funziona bene...
compilo il driver con queste opzioni del configure:
# ./configure
   --with-moddir=/lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers/sound \
   --with-kernel=/lib/modules/`uname -r`/build \
   --with-sequencer=yes \
   --with-oss=yes \
   --with-isapnp=no \
   --with-cards=via82xx

A rileggere anche i tuoi post su altra lista (occhio al crossposting..),
sembra proprio ti manchino i device.
