Domanda un po' sciocca:

Perche' non usate xml per formattare il documento? 

una cosa anche semplice tipo:

<XML> 
... xml stuff (DTD ecc...) 
<TITOLO> aaa </TITOLO>
<AUTORE> bbb </AUTORE>
<INTESTAZIONE>intestazione</INTESTAZIONE>
<PARAGRAFO num=1>dasdasd </PARAGRAFO>

....
</XML>

Avreste una cosa leggibile, plain test e facilmente portabile verso
altri formati, HTML compreso.
