Grazie, allora comincio da qui. Ci sono due frasi poco chiare per me:
- As life would have it, it's a bit more complicated than in the
point-and-click world of Microsoft and Apple, but it's also a bit
more flexible and certainly easier to administer for large LANs.
La frase l'ho capita tranne quel "As life would have it"... ho chiesto
anche al marito americano di una mia amica, ma non ha saputo aiutarmi

- It is available for every style of Unix, and offers a rather minimal
feature set derived from the needs of timesharing-era computing
Mi manca il finale, quel "timesharing-era computing"

E alcuni termini sparsi:
- hapless ("this will give others a chance to respond, and
will archive your problem and any solution publicly for the next hapless
user")
- n-way ("Some options (like n-way printing...)")
- paperweigh (usato come nome di stampanti che non funzionano sotto
GNU/linux)
- idiot-proof e' bruttissimo... va proprio tradotto in questo senso? la
frase e' "Most GNU/Linux distributions supply one or more "idiot-proof"
tools"
- snippet ("...to write a postscript snippet...")
- venison ("...install a contributed venison of Aladdin
Ghostscript...")
- appliance ("few appliance-style devices")
- walks and the like ("support arbitrary SNMP GET and
SET operations, as well as walks and the like")
- with such a lemon ("if you find yourself stuck with such a lemon")
- plumbing (e' il titolo di una sezione, nel testo non viene ripetuta.
Il capitolo parla delle cose che mancano da fare)

Ecco, tutto qui, se qualcuno puo' aiutarmi... intanto faccio un giro
